LAKE GEORGE AND SARATOGA RESTAURANT REVIEWS

Our restaurant review page will continually be updated as we are able to visit the local restaurants and provide simple reviews for your convenience. We hope that this helps you decide where to dine while visiting our area.

Broadway Joe's in Saratoga Springs (exit 15 - Saratoga)
Enjoy a dinner and a movie at once  - casual dining

Broadway Joe's is a fun evening, everyone who went said they would go again. Sit in very comfortable sofa-type chairs, enjoy a cocktail or two, and watch a recent movie while eating dinner. Broadway Joe's is NOT a place to go if you are a food connoisseur, starving for great, gourmet food (go to Longfellows for that) - stick with the simple foods - burgers, sandwiches and appetizers. Go to Broadway Joe's for the fun of it!

Friendly's Restaurant (exit 15 and exit 19 - Saratoga and Glens Falls)
Very casual dining for the whole family

Friendly's is a classic restaurant in this area. Locals enjoy Friendly's because of the comfortable and casual eating style. Known for their large selection of ice cream, Friendly's is a great choice for large groups and/or small children. Try the Fribbles - a favorite of mine since childhood!

Marino's Pizza (exit 14 - Saratoga)
Take out Pizza, subs, wings

Marino's Pizza serves some of the best pizza in Saratoga, as well as great subs, wings, and many other menu items. Locals go crazy for this pizza - you can ask anyone for directions (it's on the West side of Saratoga in between side streets) and they will know exactly where it is. Their secret to great pizza is in their homemade dough and great sauce. The portions are ... enormous. The subs are served on home made bread. I had a half ham sub and had to save some for later. A must try! Be advised, this is take out only and cash only.

Longfellows Inn and Restaurant (exit 14 - Saratoga)
One of the more gourmet restaurants in the region, a meal to impress

If you are looking for the best food in town - this just might be it. I brought 12 people to dinner at Longfellows and every single person raved about the food. Longfellows, though large, has great atmosphere; fireplaces, an indoor waterfall, beautiful wood work and architecture. The menu is fabulous - varied and gourmet to the extreme - must try: Fresh Crab & Sweet Corn Fritters appetizer. Ideal for everything from business dinners to a romantic celebration. Though, this is not a place for overtired children who may cry or whine.  http://www.longfellows.com

Olde Bryan Inn (exit 15- Saratoga)
Great atmosphere, favorite of locals, historic building with character

Owned by the same people who run Longfellows, the food here is also excellent. Less pricey than Longfellows and is a more appropriate place to bring children. Children's menu is available. Casual dining as well as more elegant food. The choices here are fantastic, you will not go wrong with anything you choose. Choosing is tough. Very nice tavern area. One of the most historic buildings in Saratoga. A place with tons of character - a must visit.  http://www.oldebryaninn.com

The Inn at Saratoga (exit 15 - Saratoga)
Formal dining

The Inn at Saratoga is conveniently located right on Broadway in beautiful Saratoga. I was impressed with The Inn's quiet ambiance. Their formal dining room has a fireplace and low lights which are ideal for romance, or just an enjoyable evening with friends or family. They have a separate bar area which is ideal for a quick drink before dinner. Their menu offers both full dinner meals and light fare. The food is delicious - and don't leave without dessert! This is not the best choice for children although they are welcome.

The Parting Glass (exit 14 - Saratoga)
Fun, Irish Pub

The Parting Glass is an Irish Pub located in Saratoga Springs, offering over 200 different types of domestic and imported beer. Their new and improved game room offers the largest English Dart Hall, shuffle board, and backgammon. This is typically not a place for children, but if you are in the mood for an exciting and fun filled evening, The Parting Glass is a great choice. They also offer live entertainment, usually Traditional Irish and American Folk Music. The food is "moderately priced pub style grub", simple, but very tasty.

Ruby Tuesdays (exit 15 at the Wilton Mall)
A family place

Ruby Tuesdays is conveniently located at the Wilton Mall. It's a great place to stop and eat while you're out shopping. The atmosphere is fun and exciting and the food is delicious. Be aware that there is usually a wait of at least a half an hour on the weekends.

Scotty's (exit 16)
Truck Stop

Need a quick bite to eat? Scotty's is a great place if you are just passing by and have another destination. The food is typical truck stop food which at times serves a purpose. Children are welcome, but be advised that even in the non-smoking section, it is smoky.

Davidson Brothers
Pub

Davidson Brothers is a great place to visit while in the area. For those of you who enjoy the pub atmosphere but have refrained from it due to children, you are in luck. I have never seen a restaurant so well prepared for children. In addition to coloring, Davidson's has Etch-a-sketch, video games, books, puzzles and much more to keep your kids occupied. They also brew their own beer - some of the best beer in the country (my co-worker assures me).

The Meeting Place (exit 20 - Lake George)
A family place to dine, great pizza

Definitely a place that families and parents with overtired children will feel comfortable going. Great wood-fired pizza. Very casual ambiance with casual food. Jeans are fine. This restaurant is set right smack in the middle of all of the outlet malls, so tired travelers often end up here.

Christie's on the Lake and the Steak and Steamhouse Lounge (Exit 21 -Lake George Village - on the Lake)
Fun, great views of lake, pub food, entertainment

Open May - October, Christie's is a bar atmosphere with a partially covered outdoor deck. Perfect for a summer day. They often have an outdoor singer, islands type atmosphere. Beautiful views of the lake abound. Enjoy burgers, sandwiches and casual food in the downstairs "Christies". Fine for families as well as adults of all ages. Lunch or dinner.

Steak and Steamhouse Lounge (Exit 21 - Lake George Village - on the Lake)
Excellent wine, fine dining, views of lake

Though the menu is limited the food is excellent. Great views of the lake. Eat indoors or outdoors. Great wine list. This is a very comfortable, casual atmosphere. You can often hear the entertainment from Christies (which is below) adding to the enjoyment of dining experience. Open for dinner only.

Garcia's Mexican Restaurant (Lake George)
Affordable, great margaritas

Affordable Mexican food, this restaurant is located on the street level above Christie's on the Lake and The Steak and Steamhouse Lounge. No view of the Lake, but very good Margarita's, an outdoor sitting area and good food at a decent price.

The Harvest Restaurant (Queensbury)
Family restaurant, good service

Best known for their pizza and for good reason. Out of the eight of us 4 opted for a pizza - all were pleased, fish fry and lasagna were both rated as good.  The restaurant does not offer draft beer, which disappointed our crew and the rest of the food is good but ordinary - by that I mean, that the salad was nothing special - your typical bowl of iceberg lettuce with two slices of tomato and two slices of cucumber, appetizers were the same list you find on most bar menus  - chicken fingers, wings, fried mozzarella sticks...

The Flower Drum Song (Queensbury)
Our best bet for Chinese food

Offering Chinese, Japanese and Thai recipes.  This place offers a great atmosphere for both families and couples.  The food is very good - we particularly recommend the Moo Goo Gai Pan paired with the General Tso's Chicken, and the House Special Wor Bar.  You can order with NO MSG if you prefer, we did...  Friends from NYC were not impressed with the vegetable stuffed dumplings... but other than that rated the restaurant food as excellent.

The Barnsider BBQ Restaurant (Lake George)
EXCELLENT BBQ, often offers live entertainment (Jazz), spacious, family run

Food is very reasonably priced and if you are looking for BBQ - it is the best place in the area for BBQ.  Spare ribs are "finger licking good".  Service is fast, atmosphere is nice - air conditioned inside on the lower floor... covered open air dining on the second floor. www.barnsider.com
